This one is our own. Sell Your Home Fast is a cash home buying business around Wylie, Texas, and for most of its life it ran on WordPress with Yoast, 73 posts and 55 pages of articles about probate, foreclosure, divorce and inherited houses. It looked busy. Search Console said otherwise: across 489 days it earned one click from 5,454 impressions, and 93 of its 128 pages never got a click at all. The contact form had also quietly stopped being a reliable way to reach us.
So we used it as the test case for our own conversion process: move every page to plain HTML on Cloudflare at the exact same address, prove nothing was lost, and fix the things WordPress had been hiding.

Where it started#
- Almost no search traffic. Search Console from 2025-05-14 to 2026-09-17: 1 click, 5,454 impressions. 93 of the 128 posts and pages had no clicks.
- Slow on phones. PageSpeed on the old home page, 2026-09-19: mobile performance 56, largest paint 4.5 seconds, layout shift 0.3. Desktop scored 99, which is why nobody noticed.
- Forms that depend on plugins. Contact Form 7 and a MailerLite form, both of which needed WordPress running to work.
- Stale facts. An old company name and an old McKinney street address were still on live pages, and images were hosted on a third-party CDN.
How the research was done#
- The site’s own data first. We exported the full Search Console history and read it page by page before changing anything.
- Competitors. 14 competing cash buyer sites were saved and read for the terms and offers they lead with.
- Search terms. 18 search terms were agreed, such as “we buy houses”, “sell my house fast” and “cash offer on house”, with Google Ads keyword data behind them.
- Town facts. Each of the 19 town pages carries its own sourced figures: Zillow home values for 18 towns, Census ACS 2020-2024 estimates for 19, Texas Education Agency school ratings for 18, and FBI crime data for 15, with links to each county appraisal district.
What we built and changed#
- The move, at URL parity. 128 source URLs checked after the import: all 128 resolve at the same address, 0 missing. 127 pages compared for title, description, canonical and H1: 0 failures.
- Redirects. 55 permanent redirects for category archives and WordPress attachment pages, and 27 internal links repointed from old slugs.
- Clean-up. Every image converted to WebP and given alt text, one H1 per page, the old company name and address removed.
- Forms that work without WordPress. A short cash-offer form with a property address field, sitting beside every article, sent through our own form service with Cloudflare Turnstile spam checks. Call or text sits in the header.
- 19 town pages from Allen to Wylie, each with its own local figures rather than one page with the city name swapped.
- Structured data and AI search. LocalBusiness, Person, WebSite and OpeningHours markup on the home page, and an llms.txt file for AI answer engines.
- Security headers. A strict Content Security Policy, HSTS, nosniff, referrer and permissions policies, frame protection and cross-origin isolation, all live.
How it works#
Every page is plain HTML built by Hugo and served from Cloudflare’s network, so there is no database or plugin to update or break. Every page reads, and the form submits, with JavaScript switched off. The form posts to a small Cloudflare Worker that checks Turnstile, stores the lead and emails it. There is no tracking script on the site.
Results#
- Pages kept: 128 of 128 at the same address, 0 lost titles or descriptions.
- Mobile PageSpeed on the home page: from 56 on WordPress to 100, desktop 100, measured 2026-11-05.
- Search Console and Cloudflare traffic figures: details coming soon.
What is next#
- Submit the new sitemap to Search Console and watch indexing for the first month.
- Shut the old WordPress install down after a final backup.
- Merge the long tail of thin McKinney articles into about 30 stronger pages.
- Add real closed deals and the owner’s own story to the company page.
