Most of the small business sites we are asked to look at were built on a page builder, and they have the same three problems: they take too long to load, half the page is gone if a script fails, and the phone number is a picture. So the first thing we do is not a redesign. Let’s look at what you already have. Quite often the pages are fine and the problem is somewhere else entirely.

When a build is the right answer, we build it as plain HTML. Every page works with JavaScript switched off, the phone number is a real link you can tap, and the whole thing is small enough to load on a phone in a parking lot. That is not a style preference. It is the difference between a call and a bounce.

What this service covers
#

The build: the pages themselves, the structure they sit in, the contact form, and the search markup that tells Google what the business is and where it works. Written so that the copy on the page is the copy in the source, which is what makes it readable to a search engine and to a screen reader alike.

It does not cover logo design or photography. If you have neither, we will say so and point you at someone, rather than quietly billing for something we are not good at.

What happens on a visit
#

There is no visit in the usual sense. The first call is a screen share. We open your Business Profile, your current site if there is one, and a search for what you sell, and we go through them together. That call usually turns up more than the build brief does.

After that you get a written scope: what gets built, what it replaces, and what we need from you. Nothing starts until you have read it.

How pricing works
#

The website is part of a monthly arrangement rather than a one-off build fee. What that costs depends on how many pages there are and what shape the existing material is in, so we do not publish a number we would have to walk back. You get the figure in writing after the first call, before any work starts.

“We just paid for a website two years ago”
#

That is the most common thing we hear, and often the honest answer is that the site is not your problem. A site that loads fine and says the right things can still be invisible if the business is listed three different ways across the places Google reads. That is a listing problem, not a website problem, and it is cheaper to fix. We will tell you which one you have before you spend anything on the other.
