How Much Does Local SEO Cost?

The honest answer is that there is no one number, and anyone who prints one before looking at your business is quoting you for their average customer, not for you. That is not a dodge. The price of this work is driven by a handful of things you can actually check, and once you know what they are you can tell whether a quote is high, low, or made up. So instead of a figure pulled from the air, here is what moves the price, the shapes the billing takes, and what should be in writing before you agree to any of it. Read this and the next quote you get will make sense, whoever it comes from.

What moves the price
#

Four things, mostly. How many locations you have, because every one is its own profile and its own set of listings. How crowded your market is, because outranking two competitors and outranking forty are different jobs. The state of your listings today, because a business listed once, correctly, is a different starting point from one spelled three ways across the web. And whether you need a one-time cleanup or ongoing work: keeping a profile current, answering reviews, and adding pages is labor every month, and it is priced like it.

The shapes the billing takes
#

A one-time cleanup, priced as a project, makes sense when the defects are the problem and someone on your side will keep things current afterward. A monthly arrangement makes sense when nobody on your side has that time, which is most small businesses. Be careful with the third shape: a cheap subscription that pushes your details out through a data service. It looks like the same work at a fraction of the price, but it sprays your details onto sites you will have no login to correct later, and the listings often revert when you stop paying. Cheap that you have to buy forever is not cheap.

What should be in writing
#

Whatever the number is, the quote should say what work happens, who owns every account when it is done (the answer should be you), and how you will know it worked, in figures you can check: calls, direction requests, form fills. A provider who will not put those three in writing has answered your question about the price, just not the way they meant to.

What we charge

Our local search and business listings work runs on a monthly arrangement, and the figure depends on the four things above, so you get it in writing after the first call rather than off a rate card. The audit that starts it costs nothing, and the list of what we found is yours whether or not you hire us.
